WASSON!?

Drinking rum and having fun. Wasson!? Are a five piece Cornish punk band with a sprinkling of Italian pizzaz.

Hailing from Bude, Cornwall, Wasson!? Comprises of Ryan Leverton (Vocals / guitar) Ben Clarke (Guitar) Brook Osborne (Bass / Guitar) Ben Edwards (Drums) and Igor Forsinetti (Keyboard / Bass). With influences as wide ranging as their musical talents Wasson!? continue to dine out off gig reviews such as “they weren’t actually that bad” and “not f*g awful”.

Who are the band members and what do they play?

Ryan Leverton – Vocals / Guitar Ben Clarke – Guitar Brook Osborne – Bass / Guitar Ben Edwards – Druns Igor Forsinetti – Keyboard / Bass

How and where did you get together?

The Band started when Ryan, Brook and Ben.C were looking for an excuse to drink rum and listen to music. It started just on acoustic guitars in the garage but when Ben E came onboard we knew we had to turn things up a notch. Igor joined after a chance meeting at an open mic and we have never looked back.

What are the band’s main influences?

Influences vary amongst the band. Ryan and Ben.C are influenced heavily by the west coast punk rock scene. Ben.E is a big fan of Idles and Igor loves Foo Fighters. Brook is heavily influenced by dub and reggae and you can hear elements of all theses across the album.

Have you played any notable gigs, festivals or other events? Likewise radio or TV appearances?

We have played Home Farm Festival in 2022 and 2023 and had a great time playing at a really fun festival. A few appearances on local radio stations Radio Ninesprings (Yeovil) and Piran Radio (Cornwall)

Are there any other interesting or amusing happenings – no matter how small – that the band have been involved with that would be of interest to those who like your music?

The band also run their own secret festival each year which happens in the depths of the Cornish woods. ‘SHACKFEST’ which is now in its 5th year was originally organised to give us somewhere to play! This year we had 6 local bands and singer / songwriters performing in an idyllic setting.

Where was the single/EP/album recorded and who was involved in its production?

Jon Matthews at Cellar Club Studios and Neon Frog Studios recorded and mixed the album.

Is there a particular ethos behind the single/EP/album or any particular music styles or events that inspired it?

The ethos of the band and our music is to have fun and enjoy spending time with your mates. Any excuse to play music, have a few beers and hang out with each other and our friends is what we are here for!

Can you briefly describe what the song/each song is about?

The first single ‘Shoulder to Shoulder’ is about brotherly love and loss. A poignant issue for several members of the band. It’s about supporting your mates and being there when they need you and vice versa. The album as a whole covers a wide range of topics from a weekend in a random pub in Frankfurt, Germany, to a 17th century female pirate. There is some slightly more serious stuff in there about parenting, love and even a tiny bit of politics but the bands mantra is really to not take things too seriously.

  • NEW MUSIC – WASSON!? – SHOULDER TO SHOULDER

Available via all digital platforms from 01/12/2023

The song will be the first single off the bands upcoming debut album and despite  Wasson!?’s upbeat nature and zest for life Shoulder to Shoulder tackles the poignant issue of brotherly love and loss.

Shoulder to shoulder strikes an important chord in the band and is delivered in Wasson!?’s typical uptempo style. The lyrics, co written by Paul O’Brien after the loss of his brother, outlines the importance of managing grief and looking out for friends and family. If a mantra of “never forget” is good enough for Take That it’s good enough for Wasson!?
